Worth
its weight

The bigger the diamond, the rarer and more valuable it is. But a 1.00 carat diamond is not simply worth twice the price of a 0.50 carat with the same properties – it’s actually worth considerably more and the price increases exponentially.

This means that a 1.00 carat diamond usually costs a great deal more than a 0.99 carat stone of the same quality. In terms of appearance, the difference is practically impossible for the naked eye to detect. In terms of the value, it could easily be worth several thousand Euros more.

Conversely, an exceptional colour and cut can make a 0.90 carat diamond worth much more than a slightly larger diamond of 1.00 carat, but of lesser quality.
